You are currently being treated by an internist in cooperation with a nurse consultant. Together with you, they take care of your treatment. You can speak to the nurse consultant after each visit to your doctor but also outside these consultation hours. In the latter case, it is important that you make an appointment with your own nurse consultant.

What can you discuss with your nurse consultant?

You can discuss all kinds of topics, such as:

  • general and specific questions concerning your treatment;
  • information and advice regarding hygiene;
  • information and instructions regarding the use of your medication;
  • any problems you may encounter, such as:
    • relationships
    • sexual health
    • work
    • disclosure of diagnosis?
    • where do I get the necessary information?
    • Etc,etc.

There may be subjects that come up during your conversations with the doctor or nurse consultant that cannot be treated or solved by your doctor or nurse consultant. In that case, the nurse consultant will consider - together with you - the possibility for referral.

For example:

  • Social Welfare in the AMC or General Social Welfare (AMW) in your (local) area
  • Mental Health Care
  • Out-patient clinic for sexually transmitted diseases (STD)
  • Dietician
  • Buddy care
  • Legal support (often in consultation with Social Welfare)
  • Patients’ association
  • Sexologist
  • Etc, etc.

All conversations you have with your nurse consultant naturally are confidential.
