--- Never stop infusion, life threatening ---This patient is treated for pulmonary hypertension with Remodulin® (trepostinil). Remodulin® is administered subcutaneously or intravenously. Infusion is continuous 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Remodulin®
Remodulin® (a prostacycline) is a potent vasodilator, affecting both the pulmonary and systemic circulations. It also inhibits platelet aggregation.
Subcutaneous/intravenous with
The patient always carries with him/her a back up pump, medication and supplies. Patient/ family knows what to do in case of problems. Often several medications for pulmonary hypertension are prescribed concomitantly. In case of problems, refer to the product description of all medications to see if they result from medication interaction, side effect or medication effect.

Possible problems
Subcutaneous: pain, redness or inflammation at the infusion site. Keep cool, if that doen't work, change the infusion site.
Intravenous: infection, patient has fever or chills. At the insertion of the Hickmann catheter is foul odor, tenderness, pus, redness, warmt of swelling, contact immediately the patient's pulmonologist in VUmc.
Side effects
Headache, nausea, dizziness, diarrhoea, fatigue.
