Hospitalization can be a major event in the lives of patients and their families. It can be very reassuring for a patient to know that his or her partner or family member is close by. For you as a loved one it can also be nice to escape the hospital atmosphere for a while and still stay close to the patient. In the Guesthouse you can relax in a warm and cozy environment. ‘Stichting Gastenverblijven Amsterdam UMC’ (Guesthouses Foundation Amsterdam UMC), location VUmc, offers you the opportunity to stay overnight in one of its 25 modern rooms.

The Guesthouse is located on the corner of the De Boelelaan and Amstelveenseweg and is within walking distance of the VUmc hospital and the outpatient clinic. You will stay in a spacious, well-equipped room with television, shower and toilet. There is free WIFI throughout the building.

Who is the Guesthouse for?

The Guesthouse is primarily intended for family members of adult patients staying at Amsterdam UMC (location VUmc or AMC). Outpatients who come from afar and are self-reliant can also use the Guesthouse. If rooms are available, partners and relatives of patients admitted to ‘GGZ de Nieuwe Valerius’ are welcome, as are guests from other hospitals, rehabilitation centers and hospices in Amsterdam and Amstelveen.

Requesting a room

You can only request a room by phone via telephone number +31 (0)20 444 0 555. We are available daily by phone between 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. You can also contact us via the nursing unit. The Guesthouse has 25 modern guest rooms. There are 21 double guest rooms, four of which are suitable for disabled people, 3 triple rooms and 1 quadruple room.

Arrival and departure

You check in at the reception of the Guesthouse. Upon arrival you pay a deposit of €20.00 in cash. If you are staying for one night, we ask that you pay for the room directly, preferably by debit card (PIN), if you are leaving before 9 a.m. You are expected to keep your room clean during your stay and to leave the room clean upon departure. In case of a longer stay, fresh towels and bedlinen are available at the reception. Upon departure you will hand in the key before 10:00 AM in the morning. If the key is returned after 10:00 AM, the price of the room for that day will be charged. If you stay longer than a week, you have to pay weekly. The self-contribution for guests with Dutch health insurance is €45 per room per night (as per 1/1/26). Different rates apply for guests without Dutch health insurance. Parking

Are you arriving by car? As our guest, you can park in parking garage P1 on level -2 at a reduced rate during your stay.

The navigation address for P1 is Amstelveenseweg 587 in Amsterdam. When entering the parking garage to level -2, you will find the Guesthouse parking spaces immediately on the right side (sign: ‘Gereserveerd voor Gastenverblijf’). Here you will also see the Guesthouse entrance by the glass door.

The Guesthouse offers various facilities for a pleasant stay.

In your room

All rooms have free WIFI, a TV, a safe and a small refrigerator where you can keep your medicines. There is a telephone to make internal calls if you wish to a nursing department at the Vumc and you can also be called from outside the Amsterdam UMC, VUmc. It is not possible to make an outgoning call with this telephone.

In the Guesthouse

On the second floor, next to the reception, you will find a common living room with a television and a pleasant atmosphere. Adjacent to this room, you will find the modern, cozy kitchen with dining area and coffee and tea facilities. You have access to a refrigerator and a freezer. You can also prepare a meal in the kitchen where all kinds of equipment and kitchenware are available. In a separate area you can work quietly, a laptop with free WIFI is at your disposal. On the fourth floor you will find another living room, Belvu; also here you are welcome. In consultation and for a small fee, you can use a washing machine and dryer. Detergent is available. You can also use our bicycles against payment of a deposit.

Smoking is not allowed within the Guesthouse!

Facilities in and around the hospital

In the hospital and the outpatient clinic you will find restaurants, a gift shop, supermarket, store with magazines and a silence center. On Sundays there is an ecumenical church service in the chapel at 10:00 AM. You can also use the staff restaurant ‘Het Plein’ and its coffee corner. At restaurant ‘Vermaat’ you will receive a guest discount on presentation of your room key.

Relaxation

For your relaxation, we recommend a walk through the forest of Amsterdamse Bos, which is within walking distance of the Guesthouse. The very nice ‘Gelderlandplein’ shopping center with its many shops is also nearby.
