This patient is treated for pulmonary arterial hypertension with Revatio® (sildenafil). The Revatio®-tablets are taken orally at a dose of 20 mg, three times daily.
Warning
Concomitant administration of nitrates is contraindicated. Strongly influences the
cytochrome P450 system. On prescription of new medicines this should be taken
into account.
Revatio®
Round, white film-coated tablets with 20 mg sildenafil. Sildenafil inhibits
phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). Because it relaxes and widens the vessels it improves
exercise tolerance, cardiac output and quality of life. Often several medications
for pulmonary hypertension are prescribed concomitantly. In case of problems, refer to
the product description of all medications to see if they result from medication interaction,
side effects or medication effects. Immediately contact the patient's pulmonologist in case
of problems.
Side effects
Fatigue, dizziness, headache, gastro-intestinal complaints and muscle pain. Rarely visual
disturbances or cloudy view occur.
