NHG Practice Accreditation
Since 2010, the University General Practice VUmc has held the certification of the Dutch College of General Practitioners (NHG), also known as NHG Practice Accreditation. This certification demonstrates our commitment to quality healthcare and our continuous, systematic efforts to improve. To maintain this accreditation, data is regularly collected about the organization of the practice, the medical care provided, and patient feedback (you may have filled out a questionnaire for this purpose). Based on this data, plans are made annually to further improve the practice. For us, NHG Practice Accreditation is not a goal in itself, but a means to show that we are continuously working to improve the quality of care. Your feedback and suggestions are important to us, whether related to our way of working, professional competence, or something else entirely. We welcome your comments at: uhp@amsterdamumc.nl. The results of the patient satisfaction survey are available for review at the practice.
Research of Continuity of Care
Dr. O.R. Maarsingh is conducting research on the continuity of care. For this purpose, the receptionist distributes questionnaires to patients over the age of 65. Continuity of care is one of the core values in general practice. Research shows that personal continuity – having a regular healthcare provider who knows and follows the patient – has a positive impact on the doctor-patient relationship, treatment adherence, hospital admissions, healthcare utilization, and mortality. This year, Dr. O.R. Maarsingh secured a grant from ZonMw to conduct research on continuity of care. If you would like to read more about this, you can click on the link below.
