How to pay safely

1. Check the bank account number (IBAN)

An IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is the bank account number used for bank transfers in the Netherlands and many other countries, particularly in Europe. If your bank does not normally use IBANs, you may still be asked to enter the IBAN when making an international bank transfer.

Invoices issued by Stichting Amsterdam UMC always show one of the following IBAN account numbers:

  • NL87 **** **** **73 63
  • NL75 **** **** **97 30
  • NL56 **** **** **97 81
  • NL52 **** **** **57 90
  • NL44 **** **** **98 03
  • NL30 **** **** **63 69
  • NL55 **** **** **65 98
  • NL70 **** **** **00 00
Does the invoice show a different IBAN, or are you being asked to transfer money to an IBAN that is not listed above? Do not make the payment. Contact us first at debiteuren@amsterdamumc.nl

2. Check the name of the beneficiary

Payments to Amsterdam UMC must be made to Stichting Amsterdam UMC. ‘Stichting’ is the Dutch legal term for a foundation. Stichting Amsterdam UMC is the legal entity under which Amsterdam UMC receives these payments. Therefore, the beneficiary name shown on the invoice or in your banking environment may be ‘Stichting Amsterdam UMC’ rather than ‘Amsterdam UMC’.

Always check that the beneficiary name in your banking environment matches the payment details provided on the invoice.

3. Pay securely

When paying through online banking or via a payment link, check the following:

  • Make sure you are using your bank’s own secure online banking environment.
  • Check that the website address starts with https:// and that your browser shows a secure connection.
  • Check that the domain name is complete and spelled correctly.
  • Check that an Amsterdam UMC payment email comes from an expected sender address.
  • Be cautious with unexpected payment requests or links in emails.

Did you receive a payment link?

A payment link is a secure online link that takes you to a recognised payment page where you can choose an available payment method. Payment links are commonly used in the Netherlands. If you are not familiar with this way of paying, you can always contact Amsterdam UMC before using the link.

Our payment partners
Amsterdam UMC works with Mollie and LinkPay to provide secure and convenient online payments.

Mollie is a payment service provider. It processes online payments on behalf of organisations such as Amsterdam UMC. LinkPay is a platform used by Amsterdam UMC to create payment links and payment pages; the actual payment is subsequently processed by Mollie.

How may you receive a payment link?
You may receive a payment link:

  • by email together with an invoice;
  • by email together with a payment reminder;
  • in a separate email, for example after telephone or email contact with Amsterdam UMC;
  • through LinkPay’s email service; or
  • via an Amsterdam UMC website or a website of an organisation affiliated with Amsterdam UMC.

Which email addresses may be used?
A payment request may be sent from an Amsterdam UMC email address ending in:

  • @amsterdamumc.nl
  • @amc.uva.nl
  • @vumc.nl

It may also be sent from one of the following addresses:

  • mailer@linkpay.nl
  • debiteuren.vumc@amsterdamumc.nl
  • debiteuren.amc@amsterdamumc.nl
  • debiteuren@amsterdamumc.nl
  • FIN-NAV@amsterdamumc.nl

If you are unsure, contact debiteuren@amsterdamumc.nl before making a payment.

Which websites are used for online payments
A secure online payment initiated by Amsterdam UMC may use one of the following websites:

  • payment-links.mollie.com
  • pay.ideal.nl
  • linkpay.nl

Please note:
The final beneficiary of your payment is Stichting Amsterdam UMC.

However, when you use an online payment service, the account used to process the payment may be held in the name of Stichting Mollie Payments and your bank statement or transaction history may show the name ‘Mollie’. This is normal when Mollie has processed the payment for Amsterdam UMC.

iDEAL and Wero
iDEAL and Wero are online payment methods that may be offered on the payment page. iDEAL is widely used in the Netherlands, while Wero is a European digital payment service. These payment methods may not be available through every bank or in every country. Depending on your location and the payment page, other methods such as credit card payment may also be available.

How does a payment link work?

  1. Open the payment link.
  2. You are redirected to a secure payment page provided through LinkPay or Mollie. Check the website address and secure connection (https://).
  3. Choose one of the payment methods available to you, for example iDEAL, Wero or credit card.
  4. After completing the payment, you will receive or see a payment confirmation.

Why does my bank statement show ‘Mollie’ instead of ‘Amsterdam UMC’?
If ‘Stichting Mollie Payments’ or ‘Mollie’ appears on your bank statement or in your transaction history, this means that Mollie acted as the payment service provider. Mollie temporarily processes funds for its customers before paying them out to Stichting Amsterdam UMC.

In simplified form, the payment process is:

Amsterdam UMC creates the payment linkMollie processes the payment → Mollie pays the funds to Stichting Amsterdam UMC.

If LinkPay is used, Amsterdam UMC creates the payment link or payment page through LinkPay, after which Mollie processes the payment.

Is the online payment secure?
Amsterdam UMC’s payment partners are required to comply with applicable European rules and security standards. Online payment pages use secure connections, and Mollie is supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). DNB is the central bank of the Netherlands and supervises financial institutions.

Mollie also applies recognised payment-security standards, including PCI DSS for the secure handling of card-payment data.

Which bank account numbers are used?
The Amsterdam UMC invoice itself will always show one of the IBANs listed at the beginning of this page. If an invoice shows another IBAN, or you are instructed to transfer the invoice amount to another IBAN, do not make the transfer and contact us first.

How are payment details processed?
Amsterdam UMC and its payment partners process payment information securely. Amsterdam UMC records information such as the amount paid, payment date and invoice number in its financial administration so that the payment can be correctly processed and accounted for.
